Making Technology Scouting Work
Now that you understand when and why to implement a scouting strategy - lets focus on the tools to help you put it into action.
Day two helps you understand how conferences, crowd-sourcing and networking can complement online searches, and identifies networks and other places where technology is being developed.
You will also learn the pros and cons of internal versus external sourcing, as well as tips for structuring the right deals and arrangements that will work for your organisation.
We finish with an open discussion among participates to share challenges and ideas.
About Dr. Jay Paap
The leader of this masterclass, Dr. Jay Paap, is president of Paap Associates and is one of Management Roundtable’s most highly-rated instructors. He serves on the Executive Education faculty of the MIT Sloan School and has taught in executive programs for the Industrial Relations Center (Caltech), the Haas School (Berkeley), and a wide variety of professional and commercial executive workshops globally. He is a Fellow of The Strategic and Competitive Intelligence Professionals (SCIP) and a PDMA Certified New Product Development Professional. Jay received his Ph.D. from MIT’s Sloan School of Management with concentrations in technology management and organisational change.
Jay has more than forty-five years of experience in innovation and technology management, including consulting and speaking assignments with more than 350 firms in North America, Latin America, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and the Pacific Rim. His clients include both government and commercial firms from diverse industries, such as automotive, computers, electronics, energy, food processing, biotech, pharmaceuticals, oil, telecommunications, consumer products, aerospace, chemicals, defense, and various government agencies, and federal labs.
Jay received the Maurice Holland Award from the Industrial Research Institute (IRI) for the best article published in Research Technology Management, “Anticipating Disruptive Innovation.” The Corporate Executive Board (CEB) selected the Timken roadmapping process as a best practice and cited Jay’s CFTP landscaping mapping process as one of the key building blocks of the Timken approach.
